One piece of software any optimizer should love is Firefox. Now some may say “Why Firefox, it’s only a browser?” Yes, it’s a browser, but one that supports a big variety of plugins, some of them very useful for search engine optimization. So let’s see what those plugins are:
keyword elite review
1. SEOpen ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/570/ ): this is one of the best and most used Firefox seo plugins, and has many tools that make it a favorite of mine. So let’s see what it can do:

* in Google it can check for: backlinks, indexed pages, related pages, cache and PageRank.
* in Yahoo and MSN: backlinks and indexed pages.
* for Alexa: overview, traffic details, backlinks and related sites.
* keyword density of the most used words on the page.
* DMOZ checker: see if the site is included in the directory.
* check for robots.txt.
* validator to check your page for errors (it uses the validator from www.w3.org).

There are other things, but these are the most important.

2. SEO Links ( http://www.webmasterbrain.com/seo-tools/firefox-extensions/seo-links/ ) is another extension I use everyday. When the extension si active and you hover over a link a tooltip will appear that will show you Yahoo, MSN, and Google link popularity and ranking data for the URL and anchor text pair. When you’re simply browsing this can be annoying, but you can simply deactivate it with a right-click!

This could be very easily used to check your search engine rankings for a certain page, and here is how: write up a list with all the keywords and keyphrases that you want to rank for, and then link those words or phrases to the web pages associated with them!

Now every time you want to check your ranks activate the SEO Links extension and hover over the links — you will see where your pages are in Google, Yahoo and MSN.

3. Don’t waste anymore of your precious screen real estate just to find out what your PageRank and AlexaRank is! SearchStatus ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/321/ ) can sit anywhere you want (I keep it in the status bar) and you’ll receive the precious info at a glance. But this little tool can do a lot more than that:

* it shows what metatags a site has
* checks for backlinks and indexed pages in Google, Yahoo and MSN
* it shows the robots.txt file
* keyword density report function
* and best of all: the highlight “nofollow” links will show you what links will be followed by search engine spiders — very useful when you want to submit your site to a directory and don’t know if it will matter from a seo perspective.

So in case you’re not using Firefox, go get it! It could be your best friend when it comes to search engine optimization!

eBay has become infamous for weird and wacky auctions. In this article, we will look at some of the zaniest and then discuss the practical lesson we can take away. First, let’s stimulate some ideas and look at some crazy listings:

In late 2004, Mary Anderson used eBay to sell her father’s ghost. Her father had recently died and Mary’s young son Colin was afraid that his grandfather’s ghost was haunting their house. When it got to the point that Colin could no longer sleep at night and to allay her son’s fears, Mary decided to auction the ghost off on eBay. As eBay requires you to sell something physical, the high bidder would receive her father’s old cane as well as the ?ghost’. She stipulated in the listing that the winning bidder would have to write her son and reassure him that his grandfather’s ghost was safe and well. There were 132 bids in the auction and the winning bidder paid a final price of $65′000 (Goldenpalace.com was the high bidder they are an online casino that has achieved notoriety for their wacky eBay purchases). Mary has said that she will put the money in a college fund for Colin, who is presumably much happier now that the ?ghost’ has moved house.

In June 2005, the wife of Tim Shaw, a well-known British radio DJ, sold her husband’s $50′000 Lotus Esprit sports car on eBay with a Buy It Now price of 50 pence ($1) while Shaw was still in the studio. Mrs Shaw heard him flirting with model Jodie Marsh on air, when he said he would leave his wife and two children for the model. Shaw’s wife said it was the ?final straw’ and immediately listed the sports car (which he had been daft enough to buy in her name) on eBay for 50 pence, with the only stipulation being that the buyer would have to collect the car within ?the next two to three hours before my husband gets home to find it gone and all his belongings in the street.’ The car sold within 5 minutes and was collected the same day.

A 19-year old man from England sold a single cornflake on eBay for one pound and twenty pence (approx $2.50). He listed the cornflake on the site as ?an experiment’. At first there were no bids, but within a couple of days someone had offered a penny and the bids increased until he finally sold it for one pound twenty. Apparently he received some very interesting enquiries about the cornflake: one bidder asked if it would mate safely with a Sugar Puff, while another asked if it would be sociable if it was dropped in a fish tank.

A man from Arizona sold an air guitar (an imaginary guitar) on eBay for $5.50!

In February 2007, after Britney Spears shaved off all her hair, the salon she visited put the hair up for auction on eBay, as well as ¾ of a can of Red Bull she had drunk from and a blue Bic lighter she had used. The listing reached $1 million before it was removed by eBay amidst some controversy.

Water that was said to have been left in a cup Elvis Presley drank from during a 1977 concert was sold for $455.

A man from Brisbane, Australia attempted to sell neighboring New Zealand at a starting price of $0.01 AUD. Amazingly, the price had risen to $3′000 before eBay removed the listing.

In 2004, a scorned Seattle man listed his ex-wife’s wedding dress on eBay. The site attracted a boatload of viewers and bidders as the man himself modeled the dress for the photos. The dress had a starting price of $1 and finally sold for $3′850.

In 2000, a very enterprising seller tried to sell his soul on eBay. Unfortunately, as eBay requires a physical product to be delivered to the buyer and souls are a bit tricky to pack and ship, the listing was removed.

One of the most famous weird listings ever to grace eBay was the sale of the virgin Mary on a toasted cheese sandwich. Ten years prior to listing the sandwich, Diana Duyser of Miami apparently made the toasted sandwich for herself, only to see a vaguely familiar face staring up at her. She kept the cheese sandwich in her bedside cabinet for ten years before deciding to sell it on eBay. Despite the length of time, at the time of its sale the sandwich had yet to show a single spore of mold (allegedly!)

What do all these weird and wacky listings have in common? They ALL attracted a LOT of attention. And in a market where everyone is competing for attention, that’s a big deal. Your listing might have the perfect title, a flawless description, and a beautiful photograph, but as soon as you add that extra ?something’ that creates a stir, you instantly make it (and your business) stand out from the crowd. And the bids start rolling in.

So how can you attract more attention to your listings on an everyday level? As a general rule, whatever everyone else is doing, do the opposite. There’s nothing to be gained from making your listings carbon copies of everyone else’s. Look for a hook, something that makes you unique and a bit different to everyone else, something that will grab the interest of the buyer. You don’t even have to do this with every listing create just one listing that is weird or wacky, and then cross-promote your store and other relevant products within that listing. Just attracting attention to one listing can be enough to get the ball rolling. Of course, it’s preferable if your ?wacky’ listing has something in common with the other products or services you sell.

Suppose that the salon that sold Britney Spears’ hair had cross-promoted a range of hair products. People love to have a story behind something they buy, and if something they buy from you comes with a ready made story they can share with friends, they are that much more likely to make the purchase. Be alert to look for a hook in your listings - something that shouts out as being different and then make sure you cross-promote your related products and eBay store to attract as many buyers as possible. Try it, it works!

We released the new AdWords interface early to get your feedback on it as soon as possible. And you haven’t disappointed us! We receive thousands of comments every month covering likes, dislikes, and ideas for ways to further improve the AdWords interface. We read your comments carefully to prioritize the areas to work on next.

And we’ve made a lot of progress on the top issues our advertisers reported, so today we wanted to share these improvements with you.

Less horizontal scrolling

When working with certain browsers and monitor resolutions (especially 1024×768), you told us you needed to scroll back and forth in order view data tables and controls. We’ve now condensed the layout of AdWords pages and width of columns in order to eliminate the need to scroll horizontally. If you’re still encountering this issue, please let us know.

If you’d like to further condense the view of your account, remember that you can customize your columns. Try hiding columns that aren’t important to you and move other columns around to quickly compare important metrics side-by-side.

Support for Safari 4 and Firefox 3.5

Those of you working with the newest versions of Safari and Firefox will be happy to know that the new AdWords interface now works with these browsers. We’ll continue to work to support the latest versions all major browsers in the future.

Faster load times

One of our most important goals with the new interface was to improve the efficiency of day-to-day campaign management tasks. We’ve heard from some advertisers that while integrated reports and roll-up tabs help them quickly access and act on important data, the data didn’t always load as quickly as they’d hoped.

We’ve worked to improve the speed of the interface with the latest releases, and hope you can now see a noticeable improvement. However, our work isn’t done, and we’ll continue to focus on shortening load times with upcoming launches. For the fastest experience, we recommend using the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox 3+, Safari 4, or Internet Explorer 8.

Searching for keywords

We heard many of you are looking for quick ways to search for keywords, ad text, or campaign names within your account. In previous posts, we talked about how you can use filtering to focus on the data that matters to you.

While text filters allow you to search and act directly on the data you see, they also take a few clicks to set up for the first time. To help you work more quickly, we’ve added a new shortcut that lets you quickly search by text under the ‘Filter and views’ menu on any tab.

Try it on your Keywords tab to quickly find all keywords containing a specific term.

QUESTION:
I recently launched a website for my sporting goods business. Do I need to do anything special to attract customers to my website? I know nothing about search engines and marketing as such. Please tell me where to begin. — Sean M.

ANSWER:
Sean, that is a question that has been asked by every business person who has ever launched a website. If I build it, will they come? Of course they will — if you?ve built a website that appeals to dead baseball players.

For those of you who didn?t get the ?Field of Dreams? reference, let me put it this way: No, Sean, if you build it they will not come, at least not without some effort on your part.

Assuming that a website will automatically attract customers is the single biggest mistake that many business owners make. It is this mistake that eventually leads them to dismiss their website as a failure and abandon their online sales efforts.

I can?t tell you how many times I?ve heard a client say, ?Well, I threw up a website, but nobody ever came to it and I didn?t sell a single thing from it! Dang thing was a waste of time, if you ask me ??

Forgive me, but ?threw up? is the operative term there. These short-sighted entrepreneurs (God love them) mistakenly think that all they have to do is throw up a website and that their business will automatically double overnight. And when nothing happens they blame it on the infallibility of the Internet, on El Nino, on the Bosa Nova, on their customers? everything but their own lack of marketing efforts.

If you build it, will they come? That, Sean, depends totally on you.

When it comes to attracting customers, opening an online business (or an online branch of an existing business) is no different from opening a traditional brick and mortar shop. Without a little fanfare and a well-devised marketing plan, chances are your website will become just another spot of roadkill on the Information Superhighway.

The first step in devising your marketing plan is to ask yourself this question: Who is my customer? Who is it that I want to attract to my website? Believe it or not, this is a question many entrepreneurs fail to ask. The identity of your customer is incredibly important because if you don?t know who your customer is, how can you expect to market to them?

The next question concerns the locality of your customer. Do you want to attract a local or global clientele to your website? If the answer is local, then you will gear your marketing efforts toward customers in your own backyard, which means incorporating your website launch with your offline marketing efforts.

If the website is the online branch of a brick and mortar business, include the website URL in all your print materials and advertising campaigns. Consider running ads in the local paper, on radio or TV announcing the launch of your site. Use direct mail or in-store posters to announce the site launch to your existing customer base. In short, keep doing what you?re doing to attract customers to your physical store, just add your website address to the mix.

Just remember, it?s important to consider your website a branch of your brick and mortar business because that?s exactly what it is. A good business website will help you sell more products, widen your range of clientele, and increase your revenue without adding overhead. Don?t sell your website short. Make it work for you.

If you are seeking a global audience, your marketing efforts will be quite different. Attracting customers from around the world is a more difficult task than attracting customers from around the block. Fortunately, the task is not impossible. The Internet has leveled the playing field in many ways. Now every business, no matter how large or small, has the ability to do business internationally.

In the most basic sense, an online marketing campaign to attract global customers should include the following efforts.

Register With Search Engines

There?s not enough room in this newspaper for a thorough discussion of search engines and their effectiveness (or lack thereof) in driving traffic to a website. Suffice it to say that 95% of search engine traffic comes from Google and Yahoo, so start there. It?s also important to realize that just registering with search engines does not guarantee you traffic, but it certainly can?t hurt.

Unfortunately, the free search engine lunch ran out a couple of years ago when search engines figured out that people would actually pay for listings and higher placement. Since that time the only way to guarantee a high (or at least higher than others) ranking is to pay for it. The two most popular pay-for-placement programs are Yahoo?s ?Yahoo Express? and Google?s ?Adwords.? Visit their respective websites for details on these programs. Be prepared to spend several hundred dollars at a minimum to get your site listed.

Exchange Links With Similar Sites

One free ? and potentially effective - way to drive customers to your website is through link exchanges with sites of similar interest. Locate sites that make a good match to your own and contact the owner to ask if they will link to your site in exchange for you linking to theirs. If you sell golf balls on your website, set up a link exchange with another website that sells golf clubs. You post a link to them and they post a link to you. It?s called digital back scratching, and if done properly, can work well to drive traffic your way.

Go To Where The Customers Are

If the mountain won?t come to Mohammed, then Mohammed must go to the mountain. One little known way to attract customers to your website is to market your products on a mega-site like eBay. There are thousands and thousands of people on eBay at any given time and each one is potentially your customer, so it’s a great place to drum up business. Your goal is not to make a living selling on eBay, but to use eBay as a marketing tool to drive traffic back to your website. Go to where the customers are, then bring them back home with you.

Let?s use our golf ball example. Post a few auctions on eBay selling your golf balls at a ridiculously low price so your auction attracts plenty of attention. When customers make a purchase, add them to your client list and send them an email inviting them to visit your website for more great products. eBay also lets you create your own ?About Me? page that you can use to advertise your business.

We have just scratched the surface, but hopefully this is enough to get you started. I wish I could tell you that attracting customers to your website is easy, but the truth is, it’s anything but. It takes hard work, creativity and above all, perseverance.

As the diligent Chief of internet submission company, Submission Company, search engine Submission Company, I am constantly watching the evolution of the Google Maps protocol.
In recent weeks to months it seems that Google has begun taking some drastic measures to curb the use of their gmail service for the dissemination of spam. In recent months, Google has been featuring more and more articles in their local business center, describing new quality control guidelines for submitters. Their thinking may have been that companies using various techniques to feature keywords in their listings, may have been moving ahead of businesses more qualified to provide the services the online shopper was looking for. Google laid down a number of guidelines as to how to fill out individual text fields on their applications, and made it clear that listings not compliant with these new guidelines might be removed from the local listings. Apparently, this trend is only one step in Google’s war against unethical Internet practices.
The unethical use of gmail for massive spamming campaigns has forced Google to take another drastic step, which makes it slightly more difficult to open up a new gmail account. From last week, Google now requires everyone wanting to open up a new gmail account, to verify their new account via a cell phone text message. The one exception to this new rule, is that people in possession of a non gmail email account can use that email address for verification ppurposes. Google apologized to their users for any inconvenience. I decided to add back single keywords to see which ones would be accepted by the Local Business Center, without triggered another flagging. I only added back “emergency mobile locksmith,” and the listing was again flagged. The idea that a listing should be flagged for such an innocuous keyword is extremely consternating. I looked on various discussion boards but couldn’t find anyone else with my experience. Until otherwise proven, I am convinced that Google is cracking down on the locksmith industry, because of spam, and may even be placing a quota on the number of times a keyword can be used in a given geographical area.
As more and more people register on the Google Maps, and as Google creates more and regulations to protect the quality of the local business listings, it is more and more of a challenge to get top listings. Google has created a number of helpful articles and videos for businesses wishing to list their company. But for business owners who do not have time to list themselves, or for owners and professionals alike who are looking for ways to be compliant with Google, and yet successful in getting high ranking on the maps, the additional guidelines create new challenges. In recent weeks to months it seems that Google has begun taking some drastic measures to curb the use of their gmail service for the dissemination of spam. At first it merely appeared that Google was tightening its quality requirements for listings on the Google Maps, (Google’s Local Business Listing Center). Google is always anxious to provide its customers quality information about the products and services they are seeking.) While one can only speculate, it is likely they were concerned about people using tricks to get high rankings on their local business listings.

What you have to understand from SEO is long tail keywords. It is needed to understand long tail keywords and using them in your contents to to get more readers and optimize the sales if you run your own business or you are an affiliate. Below are the reasons why you have to optimize your blogs with the long tail keywords, are as follows:
1. Long tail keywords are very influential to increase the conversion rate. Visitors who read through some keyword phrases in the search box, they seriously want to get specific data and if the keyword is on products that you offer, the possibility is that they are eager to buy. By choosing several kinds of the word (phrase), you can target potential market.
2. Long Tail Keywords are simpler to get ranked. It is much easier to get you blog or web reach the high ranking in search engines because the competition is weak.
3. There are more visitors visit to your we and blog. With long tail keywords, slowly but surely the visitors via search engines will increase because you have several articles (or even many) that are indexed and well ranked in the google. Moreover, if the keywords are related to your online business (bisnis internet) you will get great opportunity to sale your products
4. Raise possibility of ttearnings. We know that visitors from search engines is very important because they are are looking for specific information and will click all the ads in your blog. As a result, your fans are increasing and that will increase the potential for long-term monetizing through product sales or advertising of any other party.
Well, now is how to find long tail keywords that are relevant to the site and your niche. Here are some methods you can use:
1. Online Keyword Research Tool
You can learn Google Adwords Keyword Tool and SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool, because the tool is, you can easily choose a profitable niche (from the SERP as well as the business of course). In addition, you can develop variations of keywords derived from the main keyword. I often use Google Adwords Keyword Tool because it is easy to use.
2. Understanding Long tail Keywords competitors
You will get your competitors? long tail keywords strategy because they have done targeting some long tail keywords before. And you can also do the same with your blog to optimize your site and write new articles for new keywords.
3. Increasing sites with natural keywords
This is not difficult to raise the long tail keywords because you do not need to do research. You only need to update your blog regularly with new articles by placing the friendly keywords.
